One place where it seems to go wrong is trying to manually put in the default gateway/IP address. I have 6 subnets of my 10.1.1.0.
I made my first subnet ip address 10.1.1.1 and my subnet masks 255.255.255.0. Whenever I try to manually put in any of the other default gateways like i tried '10.1.1.65'and Im greeted with the error message that its over lapping with the g0/0. Whnever I use different IP address for all my different switches, it works, but my project wanted me to use ' Sorry for any newbie questions, appreciate any help thats given! A little different, but the same idea: 192.168.3.0/24 has 256 IP addresses, (0-255). 192.168.3.0 is the network ID.
192.168.3.255 is the broadcast ID. 192.168.3.1-254 are the usable IPs. You can split this into two /25’s. 192.168.3.0/25 192.168.3.0 (net ID) 192.168.3.127 (broadcast) 192.168.3.1-126 (usable) 192.168.3.128/25 192.168.3.128 (net ID) 192.168.3.255 (broadcast) 192.168.3.129-254 (usable) This is just an example of how Classless Interdomain Routing (CIDR) works.
