SOLD FOR:$2,580 Make: Kimber Model: Model 82 Serial Number: 51814 Year of Manufacture: 1985 Caliber:.22 Long Rifle Action Type: Bolt Action with Detachable Magazine Markings: The top of the barrel is marked “KIMBER OF OREGON, INC., CLACKAMAS, OREGON, U.S.A.” Th left side of the barrel is marked “CAL 22 LR”. The left side of the receiver is marked “51814”, “Kimber” and MODEL 82”. Barrel Length: 22” Sights / Optics: No provisions for open sights are present. Razdevayut li do gola na prizivnoj komissii. Reverse dovetail mounts are screwed into the receiver to accept scope mounts.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The one piece pistol grip checkered claro walnut stock features an ebony forearm tip, a fluted buttstock and sling swivel studs mounted in the butt and forearm. Almost no evidence of handling is visible and the checkering is sharp. The LOP measures 13 ½” from the front of the trigger to the back of the checkered steel Niedner style buttplate which is in Excellent condition. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.
Type of Finish: Blue Finish Originality: All Original Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion. Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. Almost no signs of handling are visible on the metal surfaces. The receiver is a special order version with a round top surface. The screw heads are sharp.
Kimber 82 Serial # Hi, I purchased a Kimber Model 82 in.22 Magnum today, it has a Leupold Vari-x III 2.5x8 scope and the barrel is marked ' KIMBER of Oregon, INC, CLACKAMAS OREGON, USA. The serial # is M24xx. The serial number on my Government Model is some bizzare long thing. I also have a Kimber of Oregon Model 82 in 218 Bee (shoots pretty.
The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition. Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The rifle comes in its brown corrugated cardboard shipping box. The box shows signs of wear, patches of surface loss and tape remnants.
The box is in Good condition. The original Kimber instruction pamphlet is included in Very Good condition and a laminated Kimber test target in Excellent condition is present. Also included is a laminated promotional sheet from ‘Prairie Shootin’ Supply’ touting the round receiver and other elements of this rifle. Our Assessment: Designed for competition and built by one of America’s best modern gun makers, you would be hard pressed to find a better American made bolt action.22.
That part of the rifle market has been left largely unserved since the Winchester Model 52 was discontinued, but this Kimber is a solid and worthy successor. The wood is as beautiful as anyone could hope for, the trigger and lock up are about perfect and the rifle is almost as nice to look at as it would be to shoot. This is one of a special order batch of Model 82 Custom Classic rifles by a gun shop in South Dakota. The stocks are adorned with 20 lpi checkering and made of high grade claro walnut. Not only is this an extremely early rifle, it has great history and provenance as well! Before production began, Kimber founder Greg Warne and fellow firearms enthusiast Lou Leonard arrived at the name 'Super America' while on a flight to the Las Vegas gun show. This information is even printed in the booklet 'Kimber Enthusiasts & Collectors Manual' (the booklet itself is not included in this auction).
